Our First Day of Camp

Our first day of Adventures in Music summer camp was great! Today we focused on the Spring Concerto of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. We learned that the music sounds like different aspects of Spring - birds chirping, rain falling, flowers blooming. We danced around as we sang along to the music - "Oh yes, oh yes, it's Springtime!". We also had a fun time making posterboard pianos and rain sticks, and we spent lots of time experimenting and playing with a variety of musical instruments. We are looking forward to Wednesday, when we will focus on Vivaldi's Summer Concerto!
Dancing to Vivaldi's "Spring"

Singing together as a group

Everyone singing "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree"
(a song about blossoms popping out in Spring)

The kids loved learning a new song called "The Ishy Ishy Dance"!

We learned about piano and forte and took turns conducting the group to play their instruments loudly and softly. This was a hit activity!

The "orchestra" playing vigorously while watching the conductor

Playing with the parachute outside - the kids loved it!
More conducting...

Snack time!
Playing outside with the parachute and balls.

Today was a great day!

Play this music and see how soon your kids recognize it! I just turned it on and my two campers came running in yelling --- 'it's the Spring Camp Music!!!'
