Our Last Day of Swan Lake Camp

This week was so much fun! We had a great time teaching your children about Swan Lake as well as some of our other favorite classical music pieces. We could tell they were enjoying learning about the many different facets of music. Today we dug a little deeper and learned how emotion is brought out through different instruments, tempos, and rhythms. We listened to several different pieces of music and identified what the music was about. We then talked about finding music around us - we experimented with glass jars and learned that the amount of water in the jars creates different tones. We then made our own shakers out of baby food jars - just another way of finding music around us! We also played a few games, dug for animals in the sand box, and made our own snack (yummy dirt desserts!). Later we learned about going to concerts, played musical instruments, and created a group listening art project - the kids walked around the table drawing what they thought the music sounded like. We ended up with a great piece of class art!
It was a pleasure having each of your children join us at camp this week!

We learned a new song called "There's Music Inside Me" - it's a fun and catchy tune! Here are the words, I bet your child can sing it to you with a little prompting!

There's music, there's music, there's music inside me (repeat once)

My hands go clap, clap, clap

My feet go stomp, stomp, stomp,

My mouth says la, la, la

My hips go cha, cha, cha

There's music, there's music, there's music inside me!
