Our Third Day of Camp

We had a great time finishing off our Four Seasons camp with the great music from the Autumn and Winter movements. The kids loved the little jingle: 'It's Autumn Time, It's Autumn Time, The leaves are falling down' which we sang to the theme from the Autumn movement. Once again we were so thrilled with how much they have learned to hear in the music! We listened for leaves rustling, wind blowing and in the Winter movement the kids heard lots of shivering and ice storms and windy cold weather!

We had a little lesson about
HIGH and low sounds using our pianos and the Sound of Music favorite, Do a Deer...

Unfortunately, we couldn't find the cold weather outside --- but we made do with HOT! We painted our rhythm sticks, played our instruments and had lots of parachute fun.

We cooled off inside with some musical puzzles and lacing cards:

The kids conducted our masterful orchestra...

Thanks for sharing your fantastic kids with us!!! It was a Great Adventure!

Our Second Day of Camp

Today we had a great day of musical adventures at camp learning about the Summer concerto of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. We learned how fun it is to draw what we are hearing in music and ended up with a great piece of class artwork! We also spent lots of time doing fun summer things like playing outside in the sun, running through the sprinklers and outdoor painting projects. After spending time outside we needed a break so we came inside for a snack and then listened to a story about Vivaldi's life. Did you know his mother wanted him to be a priest? Good thing his father encouraged him to play the violin - what would we do without the beautiful Four Seasons? After our story we made flower tambourines and then sang some fun summer songs. We are looking forward to Friday when we will focus on the Fall and Winter Concertos - it looks like we'll need them to help us cool off in this hot summer weather!

(Make sure you turn on your speakers so you can hear the music!)
